Full time or Part time GP Receptionist (from 20hrs to 37.5hrs per week)
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for GP Receptionist to join our forward thinking
Practice. We are a friendly, busy GP surgery based in Chingford (E4 7JX), seeking an
enthusiastic, cheerful, reliable and motivated individual.
Applicants
must be available to work both day time and early evening shifts (hours ranging from 8am to 7pm).The
current shift pattern will be as follows:
Monday 8 - 6pm
Tuesday 8 - 2pm
Wednesday 8 - 7pm
Thursday 8 - 7pm
Friday 8 - 2pm
Previous
experience of working in a GP Practice is essential.
Ideal
candidate would possess following skills:
GP Receptionist experience
Excellent communication skills
Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and EMIS Web
Ability to prioritise varied workload
Well organised with good time management skills
Flexible and enthusiastic
Committed to quality and customer satisfaction

Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1.
To meet and greet patients, members of the public and visitors in a friendly and
courteous manner
2.
To direct patients to the appropriate professional
3.
Make an appropriate appointment for patients
4.
Complete various admin tasks including scanning & repeat prescriptions
5.
Register new patients on EMIS
6.
It is important that all members of staff are prepared to take
additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain efficient
running of the practice. The Manager and doctors reserve the right to re
distribute duties and functions amongst members of staff from time to time and
request such changes shall not be reasonably refused.

The purpose of the role is to:
Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. - Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
- Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Processing invoices & medical reports
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Clearing and re-stock consulting rooms as required
- Providing clerical assistance to Practice and Trust staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
