Job summary
The Healthcare Assistant will support both the nursing and administrative teams in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care as part of the practice multidisciplinary team. Working within their scope of practice, the post holder will assist clinical staff in the delivery of treatments, preventative care, health promotion, and patient education to the entitled patient population.
The role also includes providing flexible support to the administrative team as required, helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. This is a varied and rewarding position that plays a key part in maintaining high standards of care and supporting positive patient experiences across the service.
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant provides clinical and supportive care to patients in both practice and domiciliary settings. Duties include undertaking patient health checks, observations, venipuncture, ECGs, wound care, and health promotion, supporting nurses with clinics and chronic disease management, and visiting housebound patients. The role also involves maintaining safe, well-stocked clinical environments, managing specimens, and ensuring infection prevention and safety standards are followed.

- Strong IT skills
- Clear, polite telephone manner
