Job summary

We are a small practice based in the heart of Meir, Stoke - on - Trent looking for an experienced NMC Registered Practice Nurse.You will be working alongside a wonderful team that consists of two GP's, One ANP and an HCA. We have a staff of 5 administrators who are always on hand to help if needed.

Main duties of the job

cytology,

Tavel vaccs

Baby Imms

Suture Removal

Dressing Changes

Swabs

Annual and regular reviews of patients with long term conditions (including home visits)

Contraception Reviews

Pessary checks/changes

B12/Shingles/Testosterone/prostap injections

Infection Control Lead

Continued training and development will be essential.

The above list is not exhaustive and other duties may be required.

About us

We are a multi-disciplinary team with around 4000 patients based in Meir, Stoke on Trent and are seeking a dedicated Practice Nurse to join us.

Our staff are incredibly hard working and eager to help each other when needed, therefore, it is essential that the right candidate is a good team player.

We are soon to be the lead practice for our PCN.

Our hard work is reflected in our high achievements in QIF, QOF, IIF and all areas of enhanced services.

Job responsibilities

NURSING DUTIES

To provide nursing treatments to patients with general practitioners or independently to agreed protocols.

To change dressings, remove sutures, syringe ears, administer injections as required

To perform tests such as ECG, blood, urine, spirometry, peak flow

To perform venepuncture and cervical smears and be responsible for safe collection and transport of specimens.

To be responsible for infection control.

HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION

To provide general and specific health screening to the practice population (within agreed protocols) and as delegated by the general practitioner s as necessary.

To be responsible for at least one defined patient group.

To advice patients opportunistically on general health care, and promote healthy lifestyle.

To be responsible for immunisations with agreed protocols.

ADMINISTRATION

To work alongside the HCSW in ordering of equipment and supplies

To maintain accurate patient records and statistics

To participate as a team member in the formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

To maintain professional development by attending courses and study days as arranged with the general practitioners.

To participate in research within the practice.

The post holder must be in possession of a current UKCC PIN and maintain current membership of a professional organisation e.g. RCN.
