Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, forward thinking Practice Manager to join The Cornerstone Practice, a well established and highly regarded GP surgery located in the centre of March, Cambridgeshire. Our practice serves a diverse and growing population of over 9,500 patients and holds a CQC rating of Good.

As a key member of our leadership team, the Practice Manager will play a pivotal role in the strategic, operational, and financial management of the practice. Working closely with our GP Partners, Nurse Practitioners, specialist nursing team, Mental Health Coordinator, HCAs, and our wider administrative team, you will help ensure we continue to deliver high quality, patient centred care to our community.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Manager will provide strong leadership and oversee the smooth, effective running of the surgery. Key responsibilities include:

Operational management: Ensuring the practice runs safely and efficiently each day, managing patient access, staffing rotas, workflows, and business continuity.

Strategic planning: Supporting GP Partners in developing and delivering practice plans, driving service improvement, and representing the practice within the PCN and wider NHS system.

People leadership: Managing administrative and reception teams, overseeing recruitment, training, performance, and fostering a positive working culture.

Finance management: Overseeing budgeting, income streams, reporting, procurement, and ensuring value for money.

Governance & compliance: Ensuring CQC, safeguarding, information governance, health & safety, and GDPR standards are fully met.

Patient experience: Leading communication, digital engagement, complaints handling, and working with the PPG to enhance patient satisfaction.

Digital & data oversight: Managing clinical systems, ensuring data quality, supporting digital transformation, and maintaining IT and cybersecurity standards.

We are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission and operate as a training practice, supporting GP trainees and junior doctors as part of our commitment to developing the next generation of clinicians.

Our Team

We are a friendly, supportive, and multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high quality, patient centred care. Our inhouse team includes:

  • 3 GP Partners
  • 4 Nurse Practitioners
  • Treatment Room Nurses
  • Health Care Assistants (HCAs)
  • A Diabetic Specialist Nurse
  • A COPD Specialist Nurse
  • A fulltime Mental Health Coordinator
  • A large and experienced administrative team

Through our Primary Care Network (PCN), we also offer extended multidisciplinary support from social prescribers, paramedics, and a clinical pharmacist, providing additional specialist care for our patients.
