Job summary

We invite an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team working 24-30 hours a week. We are are friendly, well-established primary healthcare team with very supportive GP Partners working in a purpose-built health centre in the centre of Corbridge. We have 7,200 patients who live in Corbridge and the surrounding area.

Main duties of the job

We are keen to recruit a Nurse with experience of Asthma and COPD management as well as the other generic elements of practice nursing to join our nursing team in delivering excellent primary care for our patients.

About us

We are a friendly team with a low staff turnover comprising 5 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 3 nurses and 2 HCAs and a large number of admin and support staff. We are a dispensing practice and have been involved in training for many years.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Membership of recognised professional body

Desirable

  • Asthma/COPD qualification or specialist training
  • Cervical cytology smear taker registration
  • Childhood Immunisations Training
  • GCP Research training or an interest in Primary Care research

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a multi-discplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise workloads

Desirable

  • Knowledge of current guidelines on the treatment and management of patients with Asthma and COPD
  • Knowledge of Primary Prevention and Secondary Prevention of cardiovascular conditions
  • Knowledge of the current Childhood immunisations programme
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web or other Primary Care IT systems
  • Experience or an interest in delivering Learning Disability Healthchecks
  • Knowledge of Primary Care based research activities or an interest in developing this
