Job summary
Interviews to be held on Tuesday 10th June between 2pm - 5.30pm
This post is for 15-20 hours to be delivered over a 5-day week - please do not apply if you are unable or unwilling to work every day -Monday to Friday
The post holder will be involved with the safe and secure handling of prescription requests and processing, analysing prescribing data and provide support to the Practice team.
The post holder will work closely with all the team to support the delivery of a high standard of medicines management to Park View Surgery, our patients and colleagues.
The post holder will also liaise with a wide range of staff within the practice, patients, local care homes, pharmacies and local acute hospital trusts where required.
Main duties of the job
- Updating patient records and liaising with patients and pharmacies where necessary
- Communicate information about medicines such as their common drug dosage and use to patients, care workers, nurses and medical doctors in line with local medicines management guidelines
- Process prescription requests in line with practice policy before these are sent to our Doctors for authorisation
- Check compliance of patients medication to prevent over-ordering and reducing waste
- Reduce waste by decreasing inappropriate issue of prescriptions
- Ensure review and authorisation dates are actioned and updated on a regular basis
- Support patients on medication reduction schemes
- Work within the practice to promote our Repeat Dispensing Scheme as appropriate
- Attend monthly Medicines Optimisation meetings to share best practice and inform colleagues of any changes
- Collect data to monitor improvements in line with core medicine management objectives. Undertake audits
- Encourage joint working and facilitate integration of all staff towards common practice prescribing aims
- Engage with local community pharmacists to improve communication and working relations
- Attend relevant courses and training events
- Keep abreast of all medicine management issues and ensure practice protocols are updated
