Job summary

St Johns Surgery is a busy, friendly practice with two sites located in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. We are looking to recruit one part time dispenser to work in our dispensing practice at our branch surgery in Wychbold, near Droitwich .

It is essential the successful candidate has relevant and recent experience of working in a pharmacy or dispensary and has excellent communication skills to work as part of our friendly, proactive dispensing team. Candidates need to have exceptional customer service skills to interact with patients and the wider health care team.

The successful candidate will work 8am to 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and be willing and able to provide cover on Thursday mornings for holiday cover and sickness.

An NVQ 2 in Dispensing / Pharmacy Services is essential. Experience in General Practice and knowledge of EMIS is preferable.

The successful candidate will be required to assist with dispensing medication, processing repeat prescriptions, ordering stock, dealing with patient enquiries and supporting the practice dispensary and reception team.

Flexibility to cover colleagues' holiday and sickness is essential.

Main duties of the job

Duties and Responsibilities:

Take requests for, issue and dispense prescriptions, using Standard Operating Procedures.

Carry out a final check of dispensed medications.

Hand out prescriptions and collect prescription charges or exemption declarations as appropriate.

Help maintain stock levels of drugs, prescriptions and labels from sources indicated by the Dispensary Manager.

Receive drug deliveries and check goods received against invoices and claim credits as required for shortages or errors. Check that credits requested are received.

Pass all other invoices for any items it is necessary to order from other sources to the Dispensary Manager as they are received.

Endorse scripts and ensure all details are completed on the reverse and the declaration signed and dated.

Ensure the Controlled Drug Register is completed, and stock level checks are carried out as required by the Practice guidelines.

Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

Work within organisational policies, procedures and guidance.

Commitment to demonstrating the organisation values and behaviours in their work

Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
