Healthcare Assistant (with Phlebotomy Skills)

Job summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant with proven phlebotomy experience to join our dynamic clinical team. We have a current list size of over 7,600 patients. Our clinical team consist of 6 Gp's 2 practice nurses & 2 healthcare assistants.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform phlebotomy (venepuncture) procedures safely and efficiently

  • Support nursing and medical staff with patient care

  • Take and record vital signs, observations, and basic assessments

  • Assist with patient mobility and personal care as needed

  • Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of patient records

  • Uphold infection control procedures and confidentiality at all times

  • Administering of Influenza/B12

The main site is based in the heart of Llandaff, with a branch surgery in Pentyrch village. We are very excited at the prospect of moving in to newly built premises on Rhydlafar drive in April 2026. The successful candidate will work across both sites.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform venepuncture (blood taking) and ensure timely sample handling

Carry out NHS health checks, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, and urinalysis

Support the management of chronic disease clinics under clinician direction

Conduct basic wound care and assist with minor procedures

Update and maintain accurate patient records on the clinical system vision

Promote health education and self-care under practice protocols

Ensure infection control procedures and confidentiality
