Job summary

We are looking for the right candidate to join our hardworking, friendly team of receptionists at Duke Medical Centre, to help to support patients when arriving at the surgery, with queries over the phone and other administrative duties.

The right candidate will have the best support needed when introduced into our team and be trained to a high standard.

We are looking for someone who has worked in a reception role previously, has a very good work ethic and who can work efficiently ensuring all their given daily tasks are complete and who works well within a team setting.

Main duties of the job

Brief description of main duties:-

  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
  • Have a good knowledge of all Practice procedures.
  • Work in accordance of written protocols
  • Scanning correspondence into clinical medical records
  • Dealing with prescription requests
  • photocopy as requested
  • Opening incoming mail/emails
  • Typing of GP referral letters on occasions
  • Receiving patients and arrive on computer system for appointments
  • Deal with patient queries
  • Consulting with members of practice team
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
  • Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
  • Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Deal with visits requests
  • Registrations of new patients Ensuring paperwork filled in correctly and arrangement of new patient medical with Health Care Assistant.
  • Process patients change of address computer data and medical records
  • Process repeat prescription request in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Enter any necessary data from surgery or clinic attendances and visits on the practice computer
  • Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.
  • Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt delivery.
  • Cover for appointment line when necessary
  • Ensure building security have good knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
  • Secure building when on late shift

You will be working within a larger team of staff consisting of Doctors, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants, Pharmacists, Managers, Administrators and Receptionists.

Duke Medical Centre(DMC) is a training practice and has regular Medical Student training with us at different levels of training.

Job Summary:

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive, professional and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Job Responsibilities:

Administration
  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
