Job summary

The Simpson Centre and Penn Surgery are looking to recruit a receptionist to work Mon-Fri, 1.30pm-6.30pm. We will consider 4 afternoons however the Friday must be covered. We are a long running family GP practice with modern well-equipped sites in Beaconsfield and Penn providing comprehensive NHS primary care services. If you have experience of dealing with the general public, a can do attitude and a willing smile we want to hear from you! Main duties of the job

Working as part of a team you will be primarily based at our Beaconsfield bespoke built medical centre however there may be occasions where you will be asked to cover at Penn. You will be the first point of contact for our patients either in person at the reception desk or by telephone. The role is never boring and you will have the opportunity to assist the team with a variety of tasks. If you have previous experience as a receptionist and working with EMIS please get in contact. About us

We are a team of just over 50 people working across 2 sites and with a patient population of c18500. We have 8 GP Partners, with 5 based at Beaconsfield and 3 at Penn Surgery. We also have 4 salaried GPs and as a training practice we currently have 5 registrars with us for the coming months. Our clinical team are supported by the nursing team, PA and access to paramedics via our PCN. Many people have been with the practice for 10-15 years plus and our trainees always want to stay with us. We are a supportive bunch and no question is too difficult, we offer excellent training and some fun events too!

Job responsibilities

Working as part of a team you will provide a high quality and professional reception and administrative service to our patient population, GPs, healthcare professionals, colleagues and visitors to the practice. As the first point of contact you will portray the practice in the highest regard to our patients and will ensure that patient queries are handled efficiently and courteously to the mutual satisfaction of our patients and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Meet and greet all patients with a smile whether face to face or via telephone

Answer telephones as quickly as possible

Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments on EMIS in line with our practice procedures.

Work with the Duty Doctor in the Triage room to book in patients for the most appropriate service

Move patient appointments when necessary, due to unforeseen circumstances, identifying suitable alternatives

Take requests and schedule home visits as necessary

Process repeat prescriptions requests in accordance with practice guidelines

Cover for Penn reception team as needed

Undertake administrative tasks as directed by the Reception Manager not limited to;

Filing medical notes for surgeries and updating as necessary

Undertaking photocopying and shredding as needed

Updating patients medical records on EMIS

Identifying patients that may need assistance and offering appropriate support, calling for a GP, Nurse of Practice Manager when necessary

Undertake a building security check prior to leaving the practice at night, ensuring all doors and windows are securely fastened and building alarms are set

Participation of an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.

Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
