Interviews will take place virtually during the week commencing 10th July 2023.

Main duties of the job

We envisage the applicant providing healthchecks across a variety of venues; including multi-faith centres, schools and community centres, hopefully reaching hundreds of children and families within the duration of the post. We have a robust evaluation planned, with the University of Birmingham, to report on the outcomes of Sparkbrook Childrens Zone.

This is an opportunity for you to take part in a ground breaking pilot study, whilst working to improve childrens health with a dynamic team of clinicians and family support specialists. This is an ideal job for an applicant who wants to have conversations that make a difference to families and to develop expertise in health promotion.

About us

Sparkbrook Childrens Zone brings together family support advisors and community connectors from Hall Green Families Early Help Team and clinicians from Birmingham Childrens Hospital Emergency Department to work together, providing holistic care to children and families. Sparkbrook Childrens Zone incorporates weekly clinics for children in Sparkbrook and Balsall Heath and outreach work within schools and community groups.

We are unique in Birmingham, operating as an integrated health and social care paediatric pilot. With additional NHSE funding to address health inequalities and support CYP Service Transformation we are expanding in this coming year. We seek to employ a nurse to support our clinics and expand our dynamic community outreach work. We have developed a template for healthchecks where we proactively diagnose and provide support a wide range of conditions associated with growing up with deprivation, including obesity, dental caries, smoke exposure and iron deficiency due to prolonged milk drinking.
