Medical Summariser required for very busy surgery with a list size of 6500 patients and still growing. Very pro active friendly team, always on hand to support. Long standing members of staff here at the surgery. Recruitment due to increase in workload.

Ideally looking for 5 hours per day Monday - Friday

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the read coding of relevant information into patients electronic healthcare records on the clinical system, adhering to the organisations coding policy. In addition, the post-holder will support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the organisation.

Duties can also include, but are not limited to, supporting the administration and receptionist teams with patient registration, booking appointments, and processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner and in accordance with current policies.

The post-holder will be an integral part of the general practice team.

About us

Currently one GP Partner with a Practice Manager Partner, 2 salaried GPs and one Locum GP. One FT Paramedic, one Pharmacist, one practice nurse and 2 HCA's.

KCS are lucky enough to have an amazing team to work alongside. There are a number of staff who have been employed here for 25 years plus with a majority of others being here for more than 10 years plus.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Medical Summariser in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. Review records and accurately produce a summary of the patients medical history

b. Accurately SNOMED CT code data on the clinical IT system

c. Review progress of summarising, ensuring practice targets are achieved

d. Review all clinical letters, ensuring they are processed appropriately in line with extant protocols

e. File and store records as required

f. Photocopy documentation as required

g. Action all incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner

h. Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients healthcare records

i. Correctly input data into patients healthcare records

j. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

k. Conduct system searches as requested

l. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested

m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

n. Be an integral part of the general practice team

o. Act as a chaperone as required

p. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

q. Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes

r. Contribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance

s. Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed
