Job summary
We have a happy team of dispensing staff who perform a variety of roles within our dispensary. We currently have two dispenser roles vacant, one due to retirement and the other to relocation. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly people to complement our team, both on a part-time basis.
Job One: Tue 08.30 - 5pm, Wed 2 - 6.45pm, Thu 8.30 - 5pm, Fri 1.45 - 5pm totalling 23 hours per week
Job Two: Wed 8.30 - 5pm, Thu 1 - 6.45pm, Fri 2 - 6.45pm, total 18 hours per week
Main duties of the job
To process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing clinicians, where appropriate, in accordance with the principles of good practice.
Daily duties will include:
Dispensing medication, handing medication to patients, managing patient queries face to face or on the telephone, taking deliveries and processing them, ordering stock, maintaining the cold chain, and lots more.
This role is both interesting and fulfilling.

Our practice looks after 7100 patients living in an around Diss and we dispense for approximately one third of those patients.

Job responsibilities
1. To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
2. To collection all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
3. To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions.
4. To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
5. To ensure that shelves and all work surfaced are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and in good working order.
6. To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
7. To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
8. To maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when available and appropriate.
9. To undertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
10. To provide cover for relevant members of staff when on annual leave, training courses or meetings etc.
