Job summary

We are a busy GP Practice and need a receptionist/administrator to join our team. The job is varied and interesting and would suit someone who enjoys a challenging role but who is calm under pressure. You will be part of a smaller reception team and play a big part in the smooth running of the practice. You will be well supported by your colleagues, team leaders and practice partners.

Main duties of the job

This work varied and interesting and involves helping patients on the telephone and at the reception desk, as well as providing support to clinical team members. The role will include generating blood forms, calling patients with test results, scanning documents, answering patient queries, booking appointments, etc.

We are a busy GP Practice and employ a great team of people. We have both clinical and administrative staff who all help and support each other. Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system

b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

d. Signpost patients to the correct service

e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

f. Clinically code data on system

g. Photocopy documentation as required

h. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

i. Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary

j. Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team

k. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

l. Carry out system searches as requested

m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

n. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

o. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

  • The applicant should be educated to GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in General Practice would be desirable but not essential.
