WE ARE LOOKING TO RECRUIT A SALARIED GP - MINIMUM 6 SESSIONS PER WEEK, WITH ROUTE TO PARTNERSHIP OR GP UNDER ADDITIONAL ROLES REIMBURSEMENT SCHEME

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. This will include insurance reports, DWP reports, and other correspondence required by patients either for NHS patients care or in connection with medical/social care insurance purposes.

We are a friendly and forward-thinking practice based in beautiful Shropshire, with a practice list size of over 11,000 and growing week on week. The practice has a great team, which includes 4 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, Nurse Consultant, Urgent Care and Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice nurses and a Nurse Associate all supported by strong admin and reception teams. We have recently achieved high QOF figures, our last CQC inspection rating was Good. We are also in a very active Primary Care Network (Wrekin PCN) that currently has the following staff: PCN Physio, PCN Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician. The Practice has an active and supportive Patient Group.

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Collecting data for audit purposes, significant events, including QOF data and other data required by the practice.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

  • Working knowledge of clinical system (System One, EMIS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and time management
  • Current valid driving licence/access to a car.

Desirable

  • Previous general practice experience is desirable.
  • completion of clinical audits, working in a team, general understanding of the GMS contract and QOF.
  • A good understanding of patient choice and referral system.
  • Pleasant and supportive personality.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Resourceful, flexible & adaptable approach to work
