Job description

Job responsibilities

- Lead the dispensing team

- Writing and implementing standard operation procedures

- Dispense medications accurately in line with prescription orders

- Provide patients with information regarding their medication, including dosage, side effects, and storage requirements

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of drug interactions, contraindications, and safety standards

- Assist in the management of stock levels, ensuring medications are well-stocked and appropriately stored

- Work closely with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide a seamless service

- Handle medication queries from patients and healthcare professionals

- Keep accurate records in line with practice and legal requirements

- Adhere to all regulatory and safety guidelines, including data protection and confidentiality standards

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience as a dispenser, preferably in a GP practice or community pharmacy
  • A strong understanding of medication types, dosage, and relevant regulations
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear advice to patients
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently
  • Experience using clinical systems such as SystmOne
  • Knowledge of NHS prescription processes
