Job summary
We are a friendly GMS practice serving the needs of 13700
patients in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse
to lead our friendly team consisting of three Practice Nurses and two HCAs. We
operate from modern premises with recently refurbished treatment rooms.
Ideally you will be/ have:
Qualified Practice Nurse (2 years minimum
experience working in General Practice)
Possess Treatment Room Skills
Cervical Screening Training
Childhood and Travel Immunisation Training
Evidence of training and experience in
monitoring Chronic Disease; Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease

Job responsibilities
1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient
care as directed
2. Nurse led Chronic Disease Management Clinics
3. Cytology
4. Wound management
5. Removal of Sutures
6. NHS Health Checks
7. Travel Clinic
8. ECGs
9. Asthma/Peak Flow Readings
10. Venepuncture
11. Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
12. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who
are being examined by another clinician
13. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
14. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture,
swabs
15. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to
senior nurse or GPs as appropriate
16. Participation in administrative systems in the practice
17. At all times maintain accurate records
