Job summary

Greenbank Road Surgery are looking for a dynamic forward thinking HCA, who works well on their own or as part of a team. We are an busy inner city training practice with approximately 6.500 patients with a good friendly team of staff and GPs, we are looking for someone to work 16 hours over 2 days although there is flexibility in the number of days worked. You will be supported by our practice nurse and experience is desirable but training will be given to the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

New Patient Health Checks and other health screening.

Urinalysis and preparation of specimens.

Blood tests and Phlebotomy.

Long term condition reviews (where appropriate).

Vaccinations including Flu and Pneumococcal.

Patient education and promotion of health and wellbeing.

Gathering lifestyle data from patients.

Infection control and clinical stock control.

About us

Greenbank Road Surgery is a busy training practice with an excellent team of staff and GPs and Practice Nurse. We are a friendly practice with good links to the local community and local practices. We work alongside our additional roles provided by our network these include well being coaches, pharmacists and care co-ordinators. We have close links with our local district nursing team and local nursing homes. We all work together to provide the best primary care healthcare service to all our patients.

Job Summary

The role of the HCA at Greenbank Road surgery is to assist the GPs and practice nurse in the service and delivery of the care and management of the patient population.

  1. The role will be supported and supervised by the practice Nurse.
  2. To undertake tasks and duties delegated by the practice nurse or a suitably qualified regulated professional.
3. Work with the practice team to meet the needs of patients.

Role Details

Communicate effectively with everyone involved in the patients care.

Build a good relationship with patients, carers and staff.

Ensure all written and electronic records are kept up date.

Personal and people development 

Keep a record of all personal developments.

understand and recognise the roles and responsibilities of everyone working in the primary health care teams.

Work with the practice on any new training required.

Health, safety and security

Hand washing.

Collection and handling of specimens.

reporting and treatment of sharps injuries

Understand the principles of the cold chain.

Know the general principles of first aid and resuscitation.

  • Computer literate
