Job summary

We are looking for a Phlebotomist to join our happy and friendly village Surgery in Long Buckby.

We are a supportive group of colleagues who enjoy looking after our patients and provding the very best health care we can.

If you are interested, these hours could be increased to help our admin team too.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and that they confirm their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
  • Collection of blood samples in accordance with training and procedures
  • Ensuring each sample is stored in appropriate containers
  • Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm identity
  • Checking patient identification and confirming whenever possible
  • Recording collection of blood samples in a patient record in accordance with practice procedure
  • Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
  • Notifying the clinical team of any significant patient issues

This role will be to undertake and record venepuncture following evidence-based national and clinical governance principles. You will ensure samples are stored in appropriate containers with accurate, legible labelling to confirm patients identity.
