Job summary
We are looking to strengthen our dispensary team here at The
Blackdown Practice. The successful
applicant must be able to work across our three sites at Hemyock, Churchinford
and Dunkeswell.
The successful applicant will already be an experienced
Dispenser, and will join our existing team working across the three
sites. They will therefore need a full
clean UK Driving Licence.
The hours are on a rota basis with shifts available from 8
till 2 or 12:30 till 6:30, and we also have a requirement for Saturday morning
cover between 8am and 12pm, either on a rota basis or as core hours. Alternatively we are happy to accommodate Dispensers who may wish to work flexible hours.

Main duties of the job
The main duties for this role are:
a.
To
be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no
discrepancies
b.
Dispensing
medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately
c.
Collecting
prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol
d.
Maintaining
stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensary lead to
facilitate reordering
e.
Receiving
and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain
is maintained where applicable
f.
Ensuring
controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy
About us
We are a small team covering three sites within the The Blackdown Hills an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. All of our Dispensary team work across all three sites with our branches in Churchinford and Dunkeswell being open mornings only and our main site in Hemyock open all day.
We offer a full dispensing service to our patients within our practice area and the Dispensary is a busy and lively place to work.

requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors
such as workload and staffing levels:
a. To
be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no

procedures

patients with advice regarding all prescription matters
j. Process
prescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and online
k. Processing
Dossett boxes
l. Assisting
the dispensary lead in the preparation of monthly returns
m. Maintaining
a clean and safe working environment at all times
n. Maintain
accurate records at all times, read coding entries appropriately
Secondary
responsibilities
In addition to the
primary responsibilities, the dispenser may be requested to:
a. Partake
in audit as directed by the audit lead
b. Provide
guidance for trainee dispensary staff and students as necessary
c. Remain
current with the latest guidance ensuring the dispensary conforms to NICE,
CQC etc guidance
