Job summary
The Woodhouse Hill Surgery is situated in Fartown with 4,500 patients; we are a training practice offering a variety of services to our Practice Population. We are looking to recruit an Reception Team Leader to join our friendly team and to assist with the smooth running of the Practice. The purpose of the role is to offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors
Flexibility is required to cover the surgerys 8:00 am-6:30 pm opening hours Monday-Friday, plus extended access early openings and late closure extended access hours. Also to cover for annual leave and sickness. The shift pattern will be discussed at interview.
The main duties will be to provide face to face first point of contact for patients and to act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff. You must answer the telephone, book appointments and other related tasks.

The successful candidate must be proficient in System One, have at least 3 years previous GP receptionist experience, the ability to multi-task. You must be proficient in reading and writing English and have a good understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
Main duties of the job
- Team Leadership & Performance
- Supervise and support the reception team, ensuring consistently high standards of work.
- Assist with patient complaints relating to the reception team and support resolution alongside the Practice Manager.
- Address poor performance in collaboration with the Practice Manager.
- Promote and maintain professional behaviour across the team, taking action when standards are not met.
- Act as the first point of contact for all reception staff regarding problems, guidance, and training needs.
- Serve as the buddy for new starters and support their induction.
- Ensure all reception staff follow policies, procedures, and consistent working practices.
- Oversee the reception scanning workflow, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Delegate and monitor administrative tasks as required.
- Maintain and update clinical rotas.
- Work closely with the Practice Manager to review performance and ensure training needs are met
