Job summary
Are you an experienced Phlebotomist looking for a new challenge?
We are looking for for candidates with at least 1 year of experience in drawing blood and proof of competency as a Phlebotomist to work between 22 and 30 hours a week. Ideally this would be over 3 or 4 days but there is some flexibility.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of our nursing team, running independent
clinics, you will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse.
Working strictly in accordance with specific
practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for
obtaining blood samples from patients in a sympathetic and supportive way and
keeping accurate records.

We
are a long established, friendly training Practice in the heart of Emsworth
providing care for over 15,000 patients. We comprise of 7 Partners, 3 salaried
GPs, 3 GP Registrars, 2 prescribing Nurse Practitioners and a full nursing
team. We frequently have F2 doctors and final year medical students.
We
currently operate on 2 sites, our new state of the art main surgery in Emsworth
and a smaller, recently refurbished branch surgery in Westbourne.
We
form part of the Hayling Island and Emsworth Primary Care Network which employs
a pharmacy team, physios, social prescribers and care co-ordinators.

Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and
relaxed as possible.
Collection of blood samples in accordance
with training and procedures.
Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate
containers.
Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to
confirm patient identity.
Checking patient identification against GP/nurse
request and confirming with patient whenever possible.
Recording collection of blood samples in patient
record in accordance with practice procedure.
Ensuring that samples are dispatched in a timely fashion.
Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior
member of staff.
Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant
patient issues.
