Salary: £31,049 £37,796 depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

Guiseley & Yeadon Medical Practice and Aire Valley Surgery are seeking a proactive, confident and experienced HR Officer to act as the lead HR professional across both practices, supporting a workforce of approximately 100 clinical and non-clinical staff across multiple sites and roles.

This is a hands-on, operational HR role, providing end-to-end HR support and day-to-day advice on employee relations matters, including complex and higher-risk issues. We do have regular input and support available from a Legal firm that provides indemnity and legal advice. The postholder will work with support from our legal team, but have a high degree of autonomy, exercising sound professional judgement, identifying employment risk early, and knowing when to seek external HR or legal advice.

Due to the nature of the role, regular on-site presence across both practices is essential, enabling effective support to managers and staff, particularly in relation to sensitive employee relations matters.

Core HR Operations

  • Provide comprehensive HR support across both practices for the full employee lifecycle, supporting a workforce of approximately 100 staff, including onboarding, induction, probation, role changes, and leavers.
  • Coordinate recruitment campaigns across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles, including drafting adverts, shortlisting, interviews, and pre-employment checks.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with DBS, right to work, professional registration, and contractual requirements.
  • Support appraisal, performance review, and probation processes across both practices.

About us

Guiseley and Yeadon Medical Practice and Aire Valley Surgery work closely together under the partnership of Dr Mills, Dr Rees, Dr Reddy, Dr Lewis and Dr Yardley serving a population of approximately 26,000 patients.

The practices operate as two businesses across 4 sites in Rawdon, Yeadon (x2) and Guiseley. There are approximately 100 - 120 staff and we are a training practice for Medical students, Registrars, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and others.

  • Proactively identify employment risk and escalate appropriately, including recommending when external HR or legal advice should be sought.

Policy, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Support the development, review, and consistent application of HR policies and procedures across both practices.

  • Reduce organisational risk through robust processes, accurate documentation, and timely advice.

Wellbeing and Occupational Health

  • Coordinate Occupational Health referrals and support managers with absence management, reasonable adjustments, and return-to-work planning.

Working Relationships
