Job summary

Part Time receptionist/administrator.

Working 3days per week either Monday - Wednesday or Wedneday - Friday.

Hours 8am to 4pm with 30min lunch or 10am to 6pm with 30min lunch, this is on a 3 weekly rotation.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a friendly, organised and motivated GP Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy practice team. This is a key frontfacing role supporting patients, clinicians and the wider practice with a range of administrative and reception duties.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming and assisting patients at reception
  • Handling telephone and online enquiries
  • Booking appointments and managing patient records
  • Processing prescriptions and carrying out general administrative tasks
  • Supporting the practice team with daytoday operations
Essential Requirements
  • GCSE English (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a customer service environment or within general practice
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident grammar and written communication skills
  • Solid IT ability and willingness to learn new systems
  • A professional, calm and compassionate approach

About us

Ashington House Surgery based in West Swindon is a busy surgery, with approx 10K+ patients. The role is supported by a fabulous team of GPs, Practice Nurses, Reception and Administration staff.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will provide a courteous, efficient and effective reception service to all patients, members of the public, staff and other professionals visiting or contacting the Practice.

The post holder will ensure effective and timely communication with all members of the Primary Healthcare Team and will carry out all associated administrative tasks in line with Practice policies, with particular attention to confidentiality at all times.

Key Tasks & ResponsibilitiesReception & Patient Contact
  • Greet and appropriately mark patients as arrived for their appointments. Answer queries from patients and visitors to the practice at reception desk.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly, dealing with requests from patients, other healthcare professionals and companies contacting the surgery.
  • Recording information onto patient records within our clinical system. Making appointments as required, take messages, answer or redirect queries, and pass on accurate and complete information.
Administration
  • File and retrieve paperwork as required.
  • Provide administrative support to process repeat prescriptions with the pharmacy team.
  • Input, allocate and scan data accurately onto clinical systems.
  • Initiate contact with patients, colleagues and external healthcare agencies as necessary.
  • General Duties
  • Keep the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions or clutter.
  • Support the smooth running of the practice as part of the wider administrative and reception team.
