Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our prescribing team, working in the largest GP Practice within Oldham ICB. This is a challenging role which requires excellent communication and computer skills. The ideal candidate should be able to work well as part of a team, contributing to the smotth running of the practice ensuring that all prescriptions and enquiries are dealt with in an efficienttimely manner.

Main duties of the job

The role includes:

  • Requesting patients repeat medication via Emis Webb
  • Working closely with GPs, Clinical Staff and other third-party Health professionals.
  • Actioning and completing tasks sent to the prescribing team
  • Completing patients online request for medication
  • Taking calls from patients to discuss medication queries

About us

Ideally you must have worked within a GP practice environment and be flexible to the postition and needs of the practice. Experience of working with Emis Web/Docman 10 is an advantage however training will be given to the successful candidate. Applicants should be used to working on reception and within an administrative team.

The position is 37 hours per week working one late shift.

Job Summary:

To act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, receptionist, practice manager, patients and local chemist, as well as other members of the primary health care team, to ensure patients repeat medication is produced within the current protocols of the surgery.

Job responsibilities:

To process, all repeat medication requests sent in by patients using the various protocols in place {this will vary from practice to practice):

  • To process repeat prescription requests from surgery website,email, internal post box and reception.
  • To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests.
  • To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.
  • To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP
  • To regularly go through prescriptions not picked up and unlikely to be picked up as a result of the timescale, to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription
