An opportunity has arisen at College Surgery Partnership for a practice nurse, to join our friendly team of nurses who serve a community of 18000+ patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be involved with a full range of treatment room duties and management of long term conditions. This is an exciting proposition for the right candidate to work with a forward thinking and dynamic team. The successful candidate will provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients on general health with support and guidance from our experienced team of 12 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, 5 Nurse Practitioners and nursing team.

We operate from modern, premises in Cullompton, a historic market town set surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside, yet only 15 miles north of the vibrant city of Exeter. We have four branches in surrounding villages and care for over 18,500 patients.

Our team meets together every day for a clinical meeting over a cuppa and have lunch together whenever we can out in our award-winning garden.

Key Responsibilities
Within agreed protocols provide nursing services, treatments and health screening to patients in participation with General Practitioners or independently
Undertake the establishment of clinics; plan, assess, interpret, implement and evaluate care of specific groups of patients, or those with special conditions, including specialist management of chronic disease, following agreed protocols
Manage the collection and dispatch of pathological specimens, including blood samples, cytology, urine tests etc. and other swabs
Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to general or nurse practitioners as necessary
Assist other clinicians and general practitioners in the emergency management of patients
Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children
Advise, support and administer vaccinations where appropriate for patients travelling abroad
Promote and deliver evidence-based care for patients presenting with aural conditions
Providing complex wound and ulcer care
Undertaking clip and suture removal
Providing oral contraceptive pill checks
Ascertaining smoking status and advising on cessation
Performing and recording of blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, BMI measurements and ECGs

Undertake as required a variety of research and analysis tasks associated with the improvement of clinical care, medical diagnosis and treatment where appropriate
Promote and support a learning culture within the practice and assist in clinical instruction, mentoring and supervision of other learners that may periodically be attached to the practice
Contribute to regular multi-disciplinary and or practice educational meetings
Work closely with other clinical staff and administrative managers in the setting up and/or improving of practice systems for monitoring/measuring performance against Clinical Governance and Quality Indicator targets
Provide additional services to the practice that meet the needs of the population
