Job responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures for blood collection, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent contamination.
• Accurately label and process specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Document patient information and procedures performed in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
• Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to phlebotomy practices.

Person Specification

Experience

Desirable

• Previous experience in a hospital or general practice environment is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Essential

• Certification or training in phlebotomy is essential.

Skilla

Essential

• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as medical terminology.
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic life support (BLS) techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in all aspects of work.
