Job summary

We are a forward thinking, training practice looking for a Paramedic/Paramedic Practitioner to join our evolving clinical team.

We are looking for a dynamic team player who would be primarily managing on-the-day demand for acute presentations alongside our current paramedic.

The post would be for 28 hours a week but that is negotiable.

Pay is dependant on experience and will be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

Your role is to manage the on-the-day demand for acute issues.

We actively support in-house development and career progression. We have regular clinical meetings to discuss cases, role development and provide clinical teaching. We have in-house experience in mentoring through Enhanced Clinical Skills, Prescribing and ACP Masters qualifications.

About us

Snodland Medical Practice has purpose built modern premises, with ample parking. We are a practice of 12000 patients, 7 GP's, 1 paramedic practitioner, 3 nurses, 2 healthcare assistants and a phlebotomist. We are currently hosting 3 GP registrars.

Staff well-being, mentoring and support are at the heart of our work culture.

Our practice has good QoF attainment and was rated "Good" in all areas in our most recent CQC inspection. CQC commented that "Staff dealt with patients, with kindness and respect and involved them in decisions about their care. There was compassionate, inclusive and effective leadership at all levels".

Our GP's have special interests in education, cardiology and minor surgery, frailty, ophthalmology and mental health and we have in-house capability for starting diabetes injectables.

Job responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The post-holder will be supported through indirect supervision to be responsible for assessing, and

diagnosing with progression to interpreting investigations, and treating patients within Primary Care

within a developing scope of competence. They will monitor and assist with improving standards of

care utilising clinical expertise and experiences. They will teach and support colleagues where

appropriate, providing professional clinical leadership. Where appropriate they will lead and/or

participate in initiatives to improve standards of patient care.

The post-holder is service driven, and will be developing themselves around the Department of

Health Guidance across the four domains of Advanced Practice, those being:

1. Expert Practice

2. Practice and service development, Research and Evaluation

3. Education and Training

4. Professional Leadership and Consultancy

JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will be an experienced Paramedic qualified to undergraduate level. They will:

Be able to demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making by autonomously assessing patients

presenting to Primary Care including initial history taking, clinical assessment and

diagnosis.

Following an initial in-house training period, they will be able to advise on treatment, and

evaluation of care with suggestion of (or prescription of, where a prescribing qualification is

held) any medication required.

Demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process. They will work

collaboratively with the multi-professional practice team to meet the needs of patients and

will play a key role in service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures.

Provide and assure safe care to patients and service users and maintain a safe

environment for all according to local and national standards and evaluating and

researching patient safety across all areas.

Facilitate an effective workplace culture with the practice and in cross-organisation working

where relevant.

Sustain person-centred, safe, and effective care through self-awareness, leadership, active

learning, development, improvement, and innovation.

Constantly seek to further skills and knowledge to improve patent care, meet the changing

needs of the practice and to support areas of interest and expanding clinical practice.
