Tuxford Medical Centre

Practice Nurse

The closing date is 31 March 2026

Job summary

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive clinical team.

We are a well-established practice serving around 6,200 patients, with an excellent reputation for high-quality, personalised, patient-centred care. Continuity of care and the culture of traditional family medicine are strong values in the practice, and support our "cradle to grave" relationship with patients.

We would prefer applications from applicants who have previous experience of working in a GP practice, but we would also welcome applications from nurses with a background in Community Nursing.

The role will cover all aspects of practice nursing, including:

  • Baby immunisations
  • Cervical screening
  • Long-term condition reviews
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Wound care / ulcer care / doppler

We would welcome informal enquires to discuss the role and responsibilities further - please contact Practice Manager who will also be happy to arrange a meeting with existing nursing staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients of all ages.

  • Carry out baby and childhood immunisations in line with NHS vaccination schedules.

  • Manage patients with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, COPD and asthma.

  • Undertake long-term condition reviews, including health checks and lifestyle advice.

  • Contribute to meeting QOF and Enhanced Services targets.

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records using clinical IT systems (e.g. EMIS).

  • Work collaboratively within the practice nursing team, GPs, and other healthcare professionals

About us

Although outwardly we may appear to be a "stereotypical small rural dispensing practice" - first impressions can be deceiving! Our premises were extensively renovated in 2019 and now provide a first class medical environment for staff and patients alike.

As a practice we are forward thinking & innovative, and always strive to provide outstanding patient satisfaction. As a result our practice list size continues to grow consistently! We are also situated just off the A1 junction - so are highly accessible in terms of commuting.

We foster team working across the practice, from GPs that have an 'open door' philosophy for staff queries, to our practice nurses having dedicated admin and nurse meeting time.
