Job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive registered Nurse to be our Nurse Team Lead, and support the delivery of high-quality patient care within our busy GP surgery.

The successful candidate will be working across our 3 sites to lead our varied Nursing Team.

Primary care experience is desired but not essential.

Main duties of the job

This will be a varied role including nursing clinics and management of the Nursing team as a whole.

Providing excellent patient service with combined communication skills. A confident manner and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes of any applicants.

The Lordswood Group was formed in October 2008. We are a partnership of three local GP Practices covering the Harborne and Quinton areas of Birmingham with 25,000 patients. Our aim is to provide the highest possible standard of care in a convenient local setting. Lordswood Group is a member practice of Our Health Partnership.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct, the post-holder will lead and develop the Practice nursing team in the provision of assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients.

The post-holder will develop the team including Nurses, HCA's and Phlebotomists. Agree protocols and guidelines to provide nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.

The post-holder will have the required level of training and competence and will work within patient group directions where these are available. A nurse with prescribing qualifications will use them appropriately.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff performance, development and support the wellbeing of the team.
  • Contribute to the implementation of policies and guidelines across the Practice nursing team.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess and diagnose patients with complex health needs across the Practice population.
  • Work with others to change policies to improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities.
  • Lead the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice to improve the services offered by the Practice nursing team.
  • Management of Chronic Diseases, wound care, health screening, travel health, health screening, immunisations (Adult and Child), Cytology.
  • Stock maintenance and ordering.
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
