Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Healthcare Assistant (HCA)/ Phlebotomist to support the delivery of high-quality patient care within our busy GP surgery.
GP Surgery or hospital experience would be preferred.
Applicants should possess the appropriate qualifications and should have computing/keyboard skills .
The closing date for completed applications is Friday 29th August with interviews being held shortly after.
Main duties of the job
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who may have previous experience working with diabetic patients, smoking cessation and coil assists.
Excellent patient service and patient relationship skills, excellent communication skills, a confident manner, ability for lone working and as part of a team and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes of any applicants.

Job Summary
- The post holder will provide a general phlebotomy/hca service for the Practice
- Perform health checks and assist with NHS Health Checks.
- Maintain accurate patient records using clinical systems.
- Ensure clinical areas are kept clean, stocked, and compliant with infection control standards.
- Support health promotion and lifestyle advice under clinician direction.
- The post holder may be asked to undertake other administrative duties from time to time.
- The post holder will maintain patient confidentiality and will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Director and within Practice Guidelines and Protocols at all times.

Clinical Duties
- To provide a sessional phlebotomy service for patients, ensuring that laboratory samples are correctly labelled and sent to the laboratory promptly.
- To record on the practice clinical computer system all patient encounters using templates.
- Carry out basic procedures such as BP monitoring, ECGs, wound care, and phlebotomy
- Support chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, asthma reviews under guidance)
- Administer vaccinations and injections (if trained and under appropriate protocols).
- Assist in clinics such as smear clinics or minor surgeries (chaperoning when required).
- To undertake CPR training and other training relating to the service as required.
- To be responsible for the re-stocking of all clinical areas and maintaining a stock rotation system.
- To participate in the induction programme of staff new to the practice
General Duties
- To function as an integral part of the Primary Health Care Team.
- To attend relevant clinical meetings as required.
- To have knowledge of and act at all times within the boundaries of Health and Safety legislation and Data Protection Acts.
- To report immediately to a member of the clinical staff or the Practice Director any acts of omission or error to safeguard the interest of the patient.

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy and Infection Control policy, to include (but not limited to):
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines

- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
