new Operations Manager?
PCS
have several services which enable us to deliver a wide range of
working-at-scale opportunities which can improve patient pathways and reduce
cost. In order to match our ambition with our ability to deliver our services effectively
and safely, we require an experienced operations and people manager to lead our
operations team; drive service providers and sub-contractors to deliver and make
a significant contribution to individual and team performance.
Main duties of the job
It
is your job to ensure our operations function meets their needs and delivers
for patients. Therefore, your ability to
influence people who you dont line-manage, and to encourage them to coalesce
around you and what youre trying to achieve, is vital.
This
is a responsible, varied and challenging role, suitable for someone who works
well under pressure, is self-motivated and can multitask, whilst still working
to a very high standard. Having experience of primary and secondary care
services and pathways is ,as is clinical systems knowledge which will support
the everyday functioning of this role.
About us
Primary
Care Sheffield (PCS) is a GP-led organisation. Our shareholders are 75 GP
practices in Sheffield covering over half a million patients. As well as
providing a unified voice for general practice in the city.
General
practice working at scale through PCS enables us to:
- Improve the
quality of GP referrals into secondary care with the provision of education,
support and referral guidance to practices across ten outpatient specialities.
- Provide evening
and weekend appointments, 52 weeks-a-year, with GPs, nurses, physiotherapists
and phlebotomists at various around the city.
- Deliver core
general practice through the Clover Group of seven GP practices
- Operate 24hr ECG
and vasectomy clinics and the NHS Health Checks programme for the city
- Provide
governance and support to practices to enable them to work together in
neighbourhoods

Job responsibilities
- Working collaboratively with our service teams, taking
responsibility for ensuring service operations run effectively and efficiently
and in accordance with defined standards and frameworks. Resolve issues when
they arise quickly and effectively minimising impact on services
- Be accountable for achieving contractual KPIs, quality
compliance and financial performance
- To work closely with the Head of service to contribute towards the
identification of growth opportunities for PCS through researching, analysing
and interpreting the PCS operating environment and make recommendations for
delivering services within and outside of Sheffield.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day implementation,
development and maintenance of robust operational and information systems that
support service delivery. Maintain compliance with Care Quality Commission
regulations where relevant.
- Contribute to and deliver effective tender responses,
proposals, reports, presentations to support business growth and service
reporting with the support of the wider PCS Team
- Play a key role in turning a successful bid into an
effective service by supporting the Head of Service in operational aspects of product/service
mobilisation.
- Work closely with the Clinical Director to ensure our services are
clinically-effective and safe; using their expertise to advise and guide you in
decision making.
- Contribute to effective tender responses, proposals,
reports, presentations, etc., to support business growth and service reporting.
- Ensure compliments, comments, concerns and complaints
for the directorate are properly logged and manage their flow through the
relevant process. Investigate complaints as directed by the clinical quality manager.
- Implement business continuity arrangements to ensure
PCS responds, in the event of serious/major incident(s), to demands of the
city-wide urgent care system.
- Be responsible for drafting and managing processes and
procedures within the directorate, ensuring consistency and appropriacy.
- Undertake special projects, related to your area of
expertise, as directed by the Head of Service.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge across all PCS
products/services you are directly responsible for. Be an advocate for PCS
services in our ACP and beyond.
- Deputise for the Head of Service
both internally and externally where necessary.
- Work closely and effectively with the Business
Intelligence Manager and other manager(s) to define, agree and produce regular
reports/dashboards for internal and external consumption.
General
- Any other duties as required which are commensurate
