Job summary

Acle Medical Partnership is looking for a General Practice Business Manager to oversee the administrative and financial operations of our practice. Come and join our friendly and well-established team in a Country based setting on the Norfolk Broads.

We are a forward thinking, innovative partnership providing a traditional style model of primary care in a modern-day NHS. We are a rural dispensing practice with a branch site based in the small market town of ACLE on the Norfolk broads located halfway between Great Yarmouth and Norwich. Our branch site is based at Reedham.

Main duties of the job

The range of roles and duties our Business Manager undertakes is wide and complex. You will oversee the administrative and financial operations of our practice. The list of responsibilities are divided into two areas, those you will do, and those you will supervise others to do. Please see attached document.

About us

We are also a teaching practice teaching Year Two Students. We have a CQC rating of Good.

We are part of the NNPC Network and engage with all the resources available to us through the PCN DES such as the Additional Roles Scheme.

The practice team consists of 3 GP Partners, 4 salaried GPs, 1 GP Retainer, Advanced Paramedic, 2 Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associate, Nursing Team, Practice Manager, Management Team, Receptionists, Care navigator, Care Coordinator, Secretarial Team, Dispensing Team, clinical coders, Finance Administrator, and IT/QOF/Quality Improvement Support.

Our patient list size is 9,700 and we offer our patients a high quality and responsive service. Our clinical system is EMIS Web.

Job description

Job responsibilities

-Maximising finances and funding streams including oversight of our Dispensary business

-Strategic planning and delivery of projects that grow or expand services and revenue streams

-Implement cost saving measure and revenue enhancement strategies.

-Manage associated risks by identifying potential liabilities and implementing mitigation measures

-Credit control, accounts payable and financial governance

(Supported by Finance Administrator)

Financial governance includes:

-Maintaining an effective liaison with the accountant

-overseeing organisation accounts, monitoring banking-ensuring year-end figures are presented

-Briefing partners on all financial matters, including forecasting

-Managing and processing partners drawings, PAYE and pensions for practice staff

(much is outsourced, therefore is oversight of this).

-Ensuring the organisation has appropriate insurance cover

-Oversight of purchasing and procurement

-Premises management

-Prepare the practice for CQC inspections

-Maintaining an effective overview of and ensuring compliance with HR legislation

-Ensuring the organisation maintains compliance with its NHS contractual obligations

-Coordinating review and update of all organization policies and procedures

  • - Leadership and/or management qualification

  • - Educated to degree level in healthcare or business

  • - Experience of managing large multidisciplinary teams
  • - Experience of performance management including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures
