Job summary
We are looking for a part-time, Eye Clinic Technician to working up-to 30 hours per week. Previous secondary care or GP surgery experience would be desirable but we will also consider applicants with relevant transferable skills.
The Practice uses SystmOne clinical system and training is available for users of equivalent systems.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for individuals who feel that they can quickly settle into the Practice incorporating their skills into our fast paced Community Ophthalmology service within the Ireland Wood GP surgery.
You will communicate with patients verbally, face to face and electronically whilst also liaising with doctors, staff and visitors of the practice.

Ireland Wood and Horsforth Medical Practice are a large GP Practice with a community Eye Clinic contract operating out of the Ireland Wood Surgery.
As Eye Clinic Technician, you will become part of a team of 6, as well as the practice wider admin and clinical team, including PCN colleagues.

- Organised patient reviews, including printing previous consultations, filing and/or booking as appropriate.
- Communicating with patients by phone and letter to confirm appointments, sending out all relevant paperwork & ensuring you adjure to patient confidentiality & GDPR
- Processing of new referrals being received.
- Liaise with the hospitals, GP practices and other medical professionals
- Act as a chaperone support if required.
- Provide clerical support for the Eye Clinic Team including recording clinical information, preparation of clinic lists, processing tasks, sending emails.
- Complete Visual Fields test on patients designated clinics will be allocated once Full training has been completed. (No specific qualifications is required)
- Shared responsibilities for infection control within the Eye Clinic and complete monthly clinical audits
- All staff are required to take their share in providing cover, when necessary, for colleagues who may be absent because of holidays or illness. This is a mandatory requirement of the role
- Opening/closing the department as and when necessary, ensuring the premises are secure
- Maintain a smart appearance, (tunics are provided), and be helpful wherever possible.
- All staff should be conversant with and adhere to all written guidelines and protocols provided and available on the practice intranet in particular: Safeguarding Protocol, The Health and Safety Policy, the In-house Complaints Procedure, the Fire/Alarm Procedures and all protocols that relate to their specific role.
