Job summary
To work as a member of the nursing team, taking guidance from senior colleagues when required. Delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient and promoting health and independence in a holistic and proactive manner. The Nursing associate should work within their competence and expand their role in accordance with practice requirements providing patient services across a wide range of clinical areas, working in line with NMC standards of proficiency.
Main duties of the job
Undertake baseline observations and identify signs of improvement, report any deteriorations or concerns e.g. pulse, blood pressure, respirations, oxygen saturations, ECG, participate in screening programmes and Annual reviews such as Frailty and Learning Disability.
Document consultations, using templates for recording of data towards national local enhanced services.
Administer medication/immunisations under Patient Specific Directions and undergo annual update training.
Follow Practice polices relating to the control, storage and administration of drugs/immunisations, follow cold chain procedures. Undertake weekly stock checks.
Suture and stitch removal, and manage dressings of wounds, referring to the ANP if any concerns or signs of infection, including delivery of tier 1 leg ulcers, following training.
Maintain accurate stock records, ensure rooms are appropriately stocked and stocks are within date and rotated.
Ear irrigation.
To support chronic disease management including performing annual reviews (diabetes, hypertension, stable asthma) after appropriate training.
Promote and deliver NHS Health.
Ensure awareness of adult and children safeguarding protection procedure.
After further training and assessment to be able to perform cervical smear screening.
Ensure Infection Prevention & Control guidelines are followed and report any concerns to the IPC Lead Nurse.
Working with practice team to ensure CQC and Regulatory compliance.
About us
The Garden City Practice is committed to development of its staff and is an accredited training practice. Our clinical team consists of 6 GP Partners, 2 ANPs and a Nursing Associate as well as clinical support via the PCN Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).
We are based 5 minutes walk from the town centre, with onsite parking, and are an active member of the WGC PCN with our neighbouring practices and part of the local Federation, Ephedra.
There is an experienced, friendly team of administrative staff including the Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager, Reception Manager & Team, Senior Administrator and Secretaries.
Our list size is growing and currently we have around 12,500 patients.
