Job summary

We are a single handed, rural, dispensing GP practice. We are looking for a Dispenser to join our friendly and motivated team.

If you enjoy working in a busy, caring environment and have proven experience in a dispensing role, you may be the person we are looking for to join our team of clinical and non-clinical staff.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, patient focused dispenser. The successful candidate should hold either a Buttercups qualification or equivalent in Pharmacy Services.

A good standard of IT literacy is required together with attention to detail.

This is a permanent, part time role working Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons

Annual salary: Dependent on experience working 15 hours a week.

Main duties of the job

  • Process and interpret prescriptions efficiently and accurately
  • Pick items efficiently, accurately and check own work for errors
  • Identify erroneous components on an order
  • Ensure effective stock rotation and that products picked have an acceptable shelf life
  • Complete documentation as required by organisational procedures and regulatory standards
  • Manage stock rotation
  • Deal with out of date stock
  • Deal with wholesalers
  • Review of use of medicines with patients (DRUM system)
  • Check medication reviews and deal with patient recall

About us

Cricklade Surgery are a single handed, rural, dispensing GP practice providing high quality care for 3,500 patients. Our team consists of 1 GP, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Dispensers, 4 receptionists, 2 secretary/administrators and a management team.

You will be joining a highly supportive team who work together to provide a friendly working environment whilst providing a high-quality frontline interface between the Practice and its patients.

The role is very busy and varied and therefore candidates must have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, organised and able to provide an efficient and accurate service.

This role will be for 15 hours per week working Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons

  • Attending to patients, processing repeat prescription requests, receiving and giving out prescriptions.
  • Filing
  • Answering the phone to patients and chemists.
  • Unpacking of orders, checking for discrepancies and putting stock away
  • Recording of non dispensing items
  • Stock rotation, date checking and storage
  • Cleaning and tidying as necessary
  • Checking of endorsed prescriptions for errors and exemption claims are correctly completed before sending to PPA
  • Stock control, reporting any discrepancies and missing orders
  • Ensuring correct disposal of all returned medication, complying with environmental health regulations
