Phlebotomy:
Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure
Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion
Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
Main Duties:
Utilise EMIS to record all treatment and care, applying all appropriate templates and protocols relating to recording of patient data, as well as
New Patient Health Checks
ECG recording
ABPM
Blood pressure check
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
Administration of Flu, B12 and Pneumococcal Vaccinations
Staple/Clip/Stitch/Suture Removal
Phlebotomy
NHS Health Checks
Dressings: Following wound management plan
Chaperoning duties
General surgery supplies
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Working Environment:
Carry out routine checks to ensure your work station is clean and tidy at the start and end of your shift.
Ensure all equipment in your work station is operational and up to date and report any issues to your line manager.
Ensure that confidential patient information is stored and handled according to protocol and report any concerns to your line manager.

This post is subject to the rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
