Job summary
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person, online or on the telephone.
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team where needed.
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
Main duties of the job
Knowledge and use of EMIS Web
Processing and issuing of prescriptions within standard timeframes as per practice policy
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
Taking messages and passing on information
Admin duties including completing tasks and NHS 111 email account
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Filing and retrieving of paperwork
Clearing and restocking consultation rooms as required
Awareness of monitoring the fridge temperatures
Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, and photocopying
Keeping patient areas tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Being polite and helpful to patients and colleagues at all times ensuring that you provide good customer service and make a good impression
About us
Aintree Park Group Practice is a well established GP Practice in the north of the the city, and currently looks after in excess of 16000 patients, with a team of well skilled healthcare professionals as well as an administrative support team and a team of Care Navigators. The Practice is lead by 2 Partners and the Operations Manager and aims to ensure all patients are cared for, treated with dignity and respect, and works closely with supporting colleagues and agencies ,to enable us to achieve this, to help us promote healthy living and well being.
The Practice also has its own Pharmacist and works closely with other health professionals - physiotherapists, health visitors, midwife and health trainers all of whom have clinics within the Practice.
The Practice is seeking to recuit a Care Navigator , 30 hours pw working across both sites. The candidate will be flexible and be able to work proactively as part of a team.
All staff within the APGP team are 'family' and are supportive of each other throughout the working day.

Human Resources:
Ensure practice policies are followed and update as necessary with particular reference to; appointments, communication, home visits, patient registration, repeat prescriptions, filing systems, births and deaths process.
Premises and Equipment:
Delegated responsibility from the Operations Manager, in relation to all aspects of building maintenance and security.
Responsible for stock maintenance at all levels.
Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at both Moss Lane and Oriel Drive.
Information Technology:
Have full understanding of appointment system.
Have a working knowledge of all software and hardware.
Maintain In Touch patient information system.
Report and manage IT problems.
Train staff in use of systems.
Health and Safety:
The post-holder will implement and lead on the full range of promotion and management of their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice health & safety policy and the practice infection control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):
- Responsible for personal infection control and health and safety
- Using personal security systems within the workplace, according to practice guidelines
- Actively identifying, reporting, and correcting health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
- Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas clean
- Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)
- Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
