Physician Associate - Salary dependent on experience
Full time ideally (40hrs)
Abbey Medical Centre is looking to
recruit a forward thinking and enthusiastic Physician Associates to deliver
high quality patient care to the PCN population. The position is offered on a
full time basis of 40 hours per week, on a fixed term contract for 1 year
initially with view to extension.

Main duties of the job
Working as
a Physician Associate, you will work within your competency to deliver a full
range of clinical activities including face to face / virtual patient
assessments, home visits and care home ward rounds. You will help to support
continual quality improvement of care and services across the PCN through the
undertaking of clinical audit. Supported by the multi-disciplinary teams
working across the 2 member practices, day to day supervision will be provided
by the Duty Doctor.

There is a daily clinicians coffee meeting - to discuss clinical cases and last nights TV, and twice weekly whole practice huddles to make sure the practice runs smoothly and any problems can be picked up and dealt with sooner rather than later. We have an innovative triage system which will see you working some of your sessions in a sociable and supportive shared working space with other GPs, admin, physicians associate and pharmacist.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide care for the
presenting patient from initial history taking and clinical assessment through
to the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate
critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including assessment
and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients.
They will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to meet the needs of
the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures
The post holder will provide a holistic and
clinical service, with support from colleagues as required, implementing agreed
management plans and following approved protocols as appropriate. The post
holder will be expected on a typical day to consult with patients who present
on the day and via routine booked appointments, to carry out home visits and
conduct care home ward rounds. The post holder will also review and act
appropriately on blood results and referrals / correspondence regarding their
patients.
Mentorship and supervision will be provided by the Clinical Supervisor and / or the Duty Doctor at the practice. The level and type of supervision will be dependent on the post
holders acquisition of skills and knowledge and determined by the organisations
clinical governance arrangements. The post holder would be expected to attend
and partake in arranged educational meetings.
The post holder will be expected to travel between
named practices and may be required to attend PCN related meetings or events.

- High level of personal and professional accountability and autonomy.
- Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions
- Understanding and experience of research and audit.

- Evidence of a continuing professional development
- Appropriate certification in Information Governance
- Ability to effectively triage, assess and diagnose
