Job summary

The post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients whilst working under the supervision of the Practice Nurse Team and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample

Collection of sample(s)s of blood in accordance with training and procedures

Ensuring samples are stored appropriately

Accurate, legible labelling of all samples

Checking patient identification against GP/Nurse/admin request and confirming with patient or patient representative

Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with Practice procedure.

Sherwood Medical Partnership is an innovative forward thinking Partnership. The Role will be based at Crown Medical Centre in Forest Town. Crown Medical Centre is a busy Practice with contemporary, purpose built premises offering a wide range of enhanced services and an on-site pharmacy to care for our 12,300 patient population.

The practice has 5 GP partners and a team of salaried GPs, practice nurses, HCAs and administrative staff to support delivery of services to our patients.
