Salaried GP required for four sessions per week at Moreton Group Practice.

Moreton Group Practice is an innovative GMS Training Practice serving the Moreton Community. Our practice team is committed to providing a high standard of clinical care. We achieve excellent QOF results and are rated Good in all areas by the Care Quality Commission.

We are active in our local Primary Care Network with one partner being a clinical director.

We have weekly Clinical/Educational and MDT meetings.

We are looking for a highly motivated doctor to join our team of GPs. We have a friendly, enthusiastic nursing team including practice nurses, Healthcare Assistants and phlebotomists. There is also a very supportive management and admin team.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

The post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including triaging patients, surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, e-consultations, video consultation, visiting patients at home, checking and signing prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. This list is not exhaustive.
  • The postholder will be expected to be flexible with regard to evening and weekend surgery hours
  • The postholder is expected to cover the duty or admin doctor role weekly
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:

  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, referring, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
  • Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
  • The post holder is expected to familiarise themselves with the practice’s clinical IT system and use it to the extent that is normally used in the practice. Record keeping must be maintained consistent with the practice’s protocols.
  • Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data
  • Contributing to the achievement of maximum QOF points and Enhanced Service requirements
  • Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  • Attending meetings including, but not exclusively, Primary Care Health Team Meetings, Referral/Prescribing meetings

Remuneration for any private work undertaken by the GP would go to the practice. This includes signing private medical certificates, insurance company/solicitor reports, DLA reports. However the Salaried GP is expected to complete DSS/DLA forms which do not attract any fee, are part of GP’s terms of service as long as the Salaried GP has access to the appropriate medical information.

Remuneration for Part II cremation certificates, performed outside of their working hours, will go to the GP.

Confidentiality:

  • In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
  • In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
  • Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines

  • Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
  • Reporting potential risks identified.
