Job summary
As part of the wider team in General
Practice, GP Assistants provide a support role to help GPs provide valuable
services to our patients by carrying out administrative tasks combined in some
areas with basic clinical duties.
Your role will help to free up GPs time and
contribute to the smooth running of the Practice, improving patient experience
Main duties of the job
Sort and prioritise all clinical post.
Extract
information from clinical letters and code appropriately.
Deal with all
routine clinical post directly e.g. DNA letters, 2WW etc.
Support the GP in
filing lab results.
Manage e-consultations
and act upon the information received.
Arrange appointments,
referrals and tests.
Data inputting
and data extraction via clinical searches.
Prepare patients
for GP appointments.
Dip urine and
taking blood pressure.
Complete basic
(non-opinion) forms.
Explain treatment
procedures to patients.
Help the GP
liaise with outside agencies.
Support
immunisations.
About us
We comprise of 6 surgeries with our own Primary Care Network Status; Buckshaw Village Surgery, Eaves Lane Surgery, Adlington Medical Centre, Croston Medical Centre, Lostock Village Surgery and Medicare Unit Surgery. Our total patient list size is combined at 23,000 and is growing rapidly. We work closely with neighbouring practices as part of a collaborative group to develop innovative primary care service to patient population in excess of 30,000.
We currently employ a total of 70 members of staff; we take pride in working together to deliver the best care for our patients.
The practice is constantly evolving to take advantage of the opportunities arising in the ever-changing NHS, and to find new and better ways of working.

The position is based across our two main sites, Buckshaw Village Surgery and Adlington Medical Centre however there may be a need to work at our other Practice locations when required.
A valid driving licence is essential for the post.
