Job summary
Great Witley Surgery are looking to recruit a friendly, reliable and detail-oriented Dispensary Support Assistant to join our practice team. The successful candidate will be crucial in helping our dispensary team to work efficiently and safely.
Main duties of the job
The successful individual will ensure prescriptions are handed out to patients in a safe manner, following all relevant guidelines and practice policies. As well as helping patients with their prescriptions and queries at the dispensary hatch, the Dispensary Support Assistant will also help with maintaining organised systems throughout the dispensary.
About us
Great Witley Surgery is a rural dispensing practice with a list size of 7,300 patients. At our last CQC inspection we achieved an overall status of 'Outstanding'.
We have a clinical team of 4 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GP's, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, 3 Practice Nurses and 2 Healthcare Assistants. The practice are well supported by our teams of receptionists, administrative and dispensing staff.

The key duties of the role will include:
- Greet patients with a warm and friendly manner and hand out dispensed medications.
- Ensure relevant identity checks are carried out.
- Provide information on dispensary services.
- Answer patient queries or redirect them as appropriate.
- Process prescription requests made via telephone, online & paper.
- Assist with incoming deliveries, ensuring stock is stored appropriately.
- Assist with date-checking of all medications and rotation of stock.
- Manage the organisation of the prescription filing system.
- Assist with keeping the dispensary tidy and organised.
