Job summary

Nettlebed Surgery near Henley on Thames is seeking to employ an experienced, competent and flexible part time Healthcare Assistantto join our very busy team of healthcare professionals and assist in delivering high-quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

DutiesAs aQualifiedPhlebotomist and HCA, you will be skilled in performing venipuncture and ensuring the accurate and safe collection of blood samples following the required SOPs

As anexperiencedHealthcare Assistant, you will support the delivery of various NHS services (Blood tests, ECGs, NHS health checks, basic wound dressings, diabetic checks etc.

Job responsibilities

Phlebotomy including patients under the age of 16yrs if parents give full permission and the patient is willing.

B12 Injections

Smoking Cessation Advice

ECG recording

BP checks

Assisting GPs in the provision of equipment for their minor ops procedures

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Undertaking NHS health checks

Dressings, compression and minor wound care.

Suture removal and staples.

Diabetic checks

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised or transferable training in Phlebotomy and/ or Venipuncture.
  • A demonstrable passion to support patients in their journey to get better.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining patient records and documentation.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a busy healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate effective communication within the healthcare team.
