Job summary

Successful applicants will possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a busy and sometimes challenging environment.

Prospective applicants need not have previous experience of working in a GP surgery but will definitely need to be proactive and confident working as part of a team or on their own initiative.

We are looking for people who can be flexible and willing to learn. New employees are given a comprehensive 'in-house' induction training programme on all aspects of our admin/reception processes as well as individual IT systems used.

Full time hours are 37.5 per week Monday to Friday. Requests for part time working will also be considered.

We are offering competitive rates of pay and match the London Living Wage as a minimum, PLUS NHS pension and 5 weeks holiday a year.

A simple work uniform is provided.

Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

1. Booking and cancelling appointments using our clinical system, EMIS Web.

2. Answer incoming phone calls dealing with requests professionally

3. Read and action incoming email and correspondence; manage outgoing post.

4. Signpost patients to the correct service

5. Assist colleagues with making referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS)

6. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

Glebe Road Surgery is a busy London GP Surgery providing primary care services to around 11,000 local people.

Our team is made up of 11 doctors; 3 nursing team and 10 reception/administration.

We have provided general practice services to our community for around 60 years and in a busy world we strive to be as helpful and caring as possible, making time for people when they need it most.

We are part of a thriving network of practices who work collaboratively on specific community based services which means we have access to an extended range of services which our patients can benefit from.
