Main duties of the job

You will be part of our busy reception team, answering & solving patient queries, signposting them to appropriate services, processing hospital letters etc.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

To assistall departments with their day to day running of the surgery

To provide administrative assistance to colleagues when required such as tasks including production of prescriptions, referrals, reports / letters and secretarial tasks (this list is not exhaustive)

To assist with photocopying, scanning and collation of documents.

Answering of telephone systems for appointments, prescriptions & queries.

To ensure that there is sufficient stationary & relevant equipment within the consulting rooms. Ensure adequate admin forms required by GP's.

Emails / online consultations / sms messaging administration.

Chaperone services

Ensure familiarity with the company's Health & Safety and Infection control policies.

At all times comply with the company's policies and protocols.

Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of improving processes.

Engage with and contribute to bi-monthly team meetings.

Ensure all mandatory training is completed.

These are illustrative duties and the post holder will be expected to become involved in a range of work and any other reasonable duties as required, to enable the practice to respond effectively to patients needs and the requirements of the business

Essential

  • Be able to provide examples of being able to remain calm in challenging situations.

Desirable

  • Good IT skills, quick to learn new software / Platforms.
  • Awareness of confidentiality risks

Experience

Essential

  • Experience with working with challenging patients and those who perceive themselves to be ill.
  • Experience of working in a busy environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work alone at times.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care or general practice

Qualifications

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Competent keyboard skills
  • Pleasant Manner- ability to relate to a broad range of people.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure able to deal tactfully with challenging patients or situations.
  • Team skills good rapport with both internal and external colleagues
  • Ability to communicate with professionals on all levels.
  • Able to assume responsibility as required
