Job summary
Due to retirement, we are looking
to employ a full-time practice manager for our two GP practice sites in Luton,
The Hockwell Ring Surgery and Britannia House Surgery, collectively known as Dr
Mirza and Partners medical practice. We are a GMS partnership with a list size
of approximately 6000 patients. We are an active member of Hatters Health
Primary Care Network. Our small to medium sized practice has been established
in the local community for over 30 years and has provided services to
generations of patients. We aim to continue to provide excellent patient care for
many years to come.
The successful candidate will
have outstanding people skills and the ability to support and lead the team to
provide a high standard of patient-centred care. We are looking for an
enthusiastic and proactive manager, preferably with knowledge and experience of
both primary care and the locality, who is comfortable in managing people both
as individuals and as part of a team. The role itself, especially when covering
two sites, will require a degree of flexibility and mobility to maintain smooth
day to day running of the Practice.
Main duties of the job
Main duties:
The new manager will oversee the
efficient and safe operation of the Practice, providing leadership in all
aspects of its management. This includes, human resources, finance, strategic
planning, organisational structure, premises management, information
technology, clinical governance, quality and performance management, and health
and safety.
Responsibilities for this role

Recruiting and managing staff.Overseeing payroll.Ensuring compliance with HR
legislation.Health and Safety, risk
assessments and compliance with mandatory training.
Providing leadership and support
to approximately 12 directly employed members of staff and several ancillary
staff and workers linked with the surgery.
Overseeing all staff to ensure
that they have an appropriate level of training to enable them to carry out
their individual roles and responsibilities effectively.
Maximising income and ensuring
cost efficiencies for the practice
Strategic development and
financial planning of the practice: ensuring opportunities for the development
of the practice are maximised.
Ensuring Care Quality Commission
compliance.Overseeing day to day compliance
with GDPR.Managing contracts for services.
