Job summary

To enable our practice to grow and develop, we are looking for the following person to join our Practice.

Experienced Healthcare Assistant providing 30-37.5 hours per week.

Hours may include some weekdays until 20:00 and some weekends.

Applicants should possess aprpriate care qualifications and be able to work as part of a team as well as lone working.

Main duties of the job

  • New patient health checks
  • Smoking cessation
  • Routine and 24-hour BP monitoring
  • Simple wound care and dressings
  • Removal clips/sutures
  • BMI checks
  • Urinalysis
  • Venepuncture
  • Assist in minor ops and coil clinics
  • Ear syringing
  • NHS and new patient health checks
  • Preparation and processing of samples
  • Administer B12, flu and pneumococcal vaccinations
  • Carry out ECGs
  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmers, delivering opportune health promotion where appropriate.
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics and other agreed areas of care within scope of the role
  • Carry out baseline observations, recording findings accurately
  • Act as a chaperone as required

Clerical duties

  • Input of general data and clinical information onto electronic patients records
  • Checking calibration due dates for medical equipment
  • Stock taking and ordering supplies of clinical/medical equipment
  • Restocking of clinical rooms as required
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate
  • Referral of patients to other medical or administrative personnel and voluntary agencies when appropriate
  • Preparation of equipment for testing and servicing
  • Source and maintain relevant information leaflets and literature for patient displays

About us

Harborne Medical Practice is a lively, modern and well established teaching practice in the center of Harborne. As well as excellent general practice and nursing provision, our services also include Hub provision for our PCN, Phlebotomy and minor surgery, along with specialist clinics for conditions such as Asthma and Diabetes, to name but a few. We are part of the Harborne PCN and have a fantastic family-friendly staff team consisting of 7 partners, 7 salaried GP's, 30 administrative, Secretarial and Nursing staff and have approximately 16,000 patients on our list. Our great clinical team is supported by a number of Allied Health Professionals, including GP Assistant, Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners, Social Prescriber, Health and Wellbeing Coach and Clinical Pharmacists.

Our lovely practice has expanded in the last few years, with the addition of 8 clinical spaces and an IT Suite and the practice can now offer 20 clinical rooms. We are known for our modern, progressive approach to both the provision of patient care and support for our staff team. We see ourselves as highly innovative, taking great pride in everything we do and are rated 'Good' by CQC.
