Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and committed leader to join our team at Haxby Group as Deputy General Manager. You will assist and support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the organisation, providing leadership and management to enable Haxby Group to meet its agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe, and effective working environment.

You will share our passion and dedication to "Putting our Patients and our People first" improving the health of the communities and patients we serve, as well as ensuring that Haxby Group is a great place for our employees to work.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the General Manager, Partners, and wider management team to assist with the operational management of the organisation. A key part of your role will be to lead on communications and engagement for the organisation, thus requiring you to develop key working relationships with the staff and other internal and external stakeholders.

As a member of the management team you will contribute to the organisations strategic and service development agenda identifying priorities and recommend appropriate leadership and management solutions that support the aims of the organisation.

  • Attend Committee meetings, organising agendas and papers as required.
  • Organise and coordinate other meetings and committees as required.
  • Ensure that any training and briefings required by all staff to perform their duties are arranged in consultation with the HR team.
  • Work closely with the GM, Finance, HR, Business Intelligence, IT and other General and Surgery Managers to ensure that all aspects of the business are communicated, managed, and dealt with properly and to the highest standards.
  • Assist in the provision of service development and delivery and ensure it is in accordance with local and national guidelines and contracts.

Communications and Public Relations

  • Deputise as the initial contact for PR and media issues and work with Directors and management as required.
  • Develop, maintain and market new and existing services as required.
  • Liaise with internal and external individuals and organisations as required.
  • Leads on internal communication to our team members, working with the senior management team.
  • Production of a monthly 'newsletter' to circulate to member practices and other healthcare providers with whom we frequently collaborate with.
  • Maintain an awareness of government and ICB initiatives.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times and gain consent where required.
  • React swiftly to any adverse publicity and public concerns.
  • Update and maintain the organisation website and/or social media platforms.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to explore opportunities that would benefit the organisation.
  • Maintain effective relationships and work in collaboration with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present information and issues to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
