Job summary

This post involves reception and administrative duties.

  1. We require quick-thinking, sensitive individuals with excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills and an aptitude for IT.
  2. To receive and direct patients and visitors to the practice promptly, courteously, ensuring accurate information is support.
  3. Process incoming and outgoing telephone calls ensuring callers are answered courteously, promptly and clearly and that messages are always passed on to the appropriate person.
  4. To be responsible for accurately booking patients into appointment slots.
  5. To take on other tasks as requested by Line Manager.
  6. Generate prescription requests within agreed timescales To process prescription from electronic and paper results.
  7. To ensure all scanning is completed within the relevant software
  8. To answer calls from the general public whilst undertaking general administration duties.

This person will be Responsible for the interface between the practice and the general public, particularly clients of the practice, both in person and on the telephone.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the Practice, and will:

  1. Alert other team members to issues of quality and Risk Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision
  2. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance
  3. Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs
  4. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
The post-holder should recognize the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to:

  2. Communicate effectively with patients and carers
  3. Recognize peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.

A well-established training Practice with GP trainers and a number of GPST, FY2s and nurse trainees. We have over 125 history striving to reverse the Inverse Care Law Adventurous and leading edge in our development. We work and train in integrated teams with other professionals embedded with the practice. Ensure the post is opened and distributed.

To take on other tasks as requested by Line Manager.

To mark new patient medical records as arrived once received from the health authority.

Generate prescription requests within agreed timescales

Template patient letters

To process prescription from telephone answer services as well as electronic and paper results

To monitor patients in the waiting room, Length of wait, Health and wellbeing while waiting, Access to assistance

To monitor security in the waiting room visually while at front desk

To tidy and maintain books, newspapers, litter, leaflets etc on a daily basis in the waiting room

To assist patients with the use of the Body Mass Index machine.

To maintain all waiting room Self Check-In machines, ensuring these are on and reporting any faults to the appropriate person.

To ensure all scanning is completed within the relevant software

To answer calls from the general public whilst answering undertaking general administration duties.

To log and scan incoming and outgoing faxes on a day specified by your line manager.

To clear all doctors rooms in the building of work and shredding on a day specified by your line manager.
